Students will learn to paint a portrait using a photograph
with acrylic on canvas. This class is appropriate for beginners to
Chantel Lynn Barber has been a portrait artist for well over
ten years, with works in both public and private collections. She has
participated in solo and group shows, and her work can be viewed at www.chantelsoriginals.com.

Supplies for Portraits in Acrylic with Chantel:
- Filbert white bristle paint brushes sizes 4,6,8, and 10
(Mastersons sta-wet palette system is recommended) without this system
the paint will dry quickly and be difficult to work with
- Palette knife
- Container to hold water for painting
Heavy Body Acrylic Paints- Indanthrene Blue, Titanium White, Cadmium
Red Medium, Cadmium Red Deep, Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Yellow
Medium, Alizarine Crimson, Ivory Black, Yellow Ochre, and Red oxide.
- One canvas or painting panel 12x16 or larger
- Tabletop easel
- Paper towels
5"x7" is recommended size. The photograph must be a head and shoulders
shot with good coloring and crisp features. Strong shadows (on one side
of the face) are nice and make for a strong composition. No photographs
on iphones or ipads please, simply the old fashioned kind.
