Well, all, it is just plain hot. It is very hard to drink enough water in this kind of heat (you know it is bad when you've downed lots of water, but can't remember the last time you visited the restroom!) This is the kind of weather that begs for herbal water.
Grab a handful of herbs (basil, mint, lemon balm, thyme, Texas tarragon, and or fennel - whatever you like to eat!) - either singly, or mix and match - rinse them, then twist and scrunch them, mash them, and put them into a pitcher. Add fresh water and ice. Let sit for just a moment, then guzzle away. (Strain out the herb bits, or just discreetly spit them out - kinda weird to eat.)
You can omit the ice and put the pitcher in the fridge for those re-hydration dashes later or serve alongside dinner. Pretty much calorie-free if you don't eat the herbs! Fat-free, too! If this interests you, come to the August brown bag at noon on August the 8th and I'll share more herbal libation information with you.
