I remember calling Memphis Botanic Garden asking to speak with someone in the PR/Marketing department. I was extremely nervous because I really wanted to intern at the Garden and was afraid of hearing that one rejection word that everyone hates, “no.”
Luckily I got called back for an interview, for which I was very nervous and extremely early. The entire time during the interview process I kept replaying in my head, “please, say yes, please, say yes, please, say yes,” and they did.
My first day was great, and I was introduced to the ins and outs of working there and the wonderful staff. It is amazing to come in to work every day and see so much excitement and people who actually love their jobs.
The most wonderful aspect of working at the Garden is the beautiful 96 acres it holds. My first tour of the Garden was given to me by my supervisor; Mrs. Mary Helen who I could tell was very passionate about the Garden. I love interning for Memphis Botanic Garden because this opportunity is giving me the chance to get experience in my future field of Public Relations and exercise the skills that I have learned in the classroom.
