The "Secret" Garden-Guest post by Mary Ann Cooper

Mary Ann Cooper is a member of West TN Shutterbugs photography club in Jackson, TN. When group members were given an assignment to take photos of blooms early this spring, Mary Ann called her friend, Rita Randolph, for advice on where to find beautiful blossoms. Rita suggested that she contact Memphis Botanic Garden, and our Director of Horticulture, Rick Pudwell, arranged for Mary Ann and Saige Turner to take a private tour of the Garden’s orchid house. She was kind enough to share some of her amazing photos and thoughts on her visit…enjoy!

The Orchid Greenhouse at Memphis Botanic Garden, also known as "The Secret Garden," is like the Garden of Eden in Genesis in the Bible, when the world was all it should be -- perfect, lush, and beautiful.

The stroll through "The Secret Garden" was like being in a magical retreat. The Orchids' vivid colors, geometric shapes, and lovely fragrances made for an excellent photographic challenge by trying to capture their diversity, richness, and beauty.

Photographing "The Secret Garden," along with the Memphis Botanic Garden, was an amazing experience.
